Use your own cards, or someone else’s!
THIS OR THATWAVE
Although the spectator has a free choice of eight numbered business cards, the performer’s prediction is always correct!
BIOMETRICK
Although two cards are signed with the performers and spectator’s PIN number respectively, the PINs refuse to change places when swapped!
IM-PAIRED VISION
In a test-conditions experiment, the performer is able to tell the spectator when he is looking at two matching symbols or not, completely hands off!
DUPLICORNER
The performer is able to draw an exact copy of the drawing made by the spectator in secret. You’ll laugh when you see the method for this one!
FANTASY FLIGHT
One for larger audiences. A group of people each write a holiday destination on a business card and even though one is chosen at random the performers prediction is correct!
REVIEWS
So far I "only" tried out Duplicorner, and it just fries people's brains. It is just so fair all around, and the one dirty moment is impossible to notice if you don't know what to look for and even then, you would have to be positioned perfectly to see it. I carry it with me everytime, and this is something that looks so innocent. There is just no way, that this won't freeze the brain of the participant. You show the front and the back of the business card stack, there are no moves involved (you only pick up the stack, that is the only "move"). I love it. I just love it.
In addition to some practical and very solid effects, what I especially valued were the video links to some of the 'moves.' This really allowed me to appreciate the deceptiveness of certain moves and with sleights that will be of continuing use.
For the price and contents, a great purchase and highly recommended.
Good ideas here, I especially like the Im-paired vision effect. I've been fascinated with this principle, and Julian has figured out a very cool and different way of applying it. I'm definitely going to perform it, though I may use ESP cards rather than business cards. The design dupe peek is a good thing to have in the toolbelt for very impromptu situations. Probably not going to perform any of the other effects personally, but the fact that I'm going to incorporate even one of the effects into my close up set makes it well worth the $20.
There's an interesting take on the 8 card brainwave, with a few nice subtleties thrown in. There's a fantastic ESP routine that went straight into my repertoire. A very nice and practical peek and a GREAT routine to perform for a crowd. There's also a neat transposition between two signed cards that will please those who like to throw in a bit of magic into their acts.
Great material! So thank you, Julian, for sharing!
